Culture Days

Culture Days invites everyone to explore, discover and participate in arts and culture in every community across the country.  In 2015, more than 2 million people participated in 7,600 activities in nearly 900 cities and towns. Last year, more than 2000 activities were presented across Ontario.

Once again, the event will feature free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate “behind the scenes”—and to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, and designers at work in their community.

As a grassroots, collaborative movement, Culture Days relies on your participation. Whether as an arts or cultural organization, an artist, a municipality, a school, a citizen, a business person…everyone can play a role in shaping this event. So get involved!

Flavours of Ontario

A NIGHT YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS IN DOWNTOWN HUNTSVILLE!

Huntsville’s historic waterfront, six gourmet courses, a very long table and dancing on the dock! This is Flavours of Ontario, and it’s going to be the dining experience of the summer.

On Thursday, August 8, 2019 you are invited to dine al fresco at the Town Dock with a front-row view of the beautiful Muskoka River and historic Downtown Huntsville. Pull up a chair, enjoy the warm summer air, and be part of a unique Muskoka “field-to-fork” dinner showcasing fare from every region in Ontario. To execute this tall order, local chef extraordinaire Jeff Suddaby will bring together culinary arts students from Niagara College. Not only will every course be impeccably prepared and presented, but you may just rub shoulders with Ontario’s next celebrity chef!

After dinner, the Huntsville Festival of the Arts hosts “Dancing on the Docks”. Local musician Neil Barlow fronts a 10-piece band playing golden oldies as the sun goes down. Grab a partner and your dancing shoes and take a turn on the Town Docks - what better way to end this magical evening? This is free to all - even those not attending the dinner.

Flavours of Ontario marries fine dining with relaxed Muskoka style. Whether you’re a foodie or just want to celebrate summer in Muskoka, this is your chance to sit dock-side and enjoy the company of friends (or meet new ones!) as you taste the future of Ontario cuisine.

Nuit Blanche North

For one night only, the streets will come alive with an exciting program of free contemporary artistic activities, events and exhibits taking place in unconventional places in and around Huntsville’s downtown core. Close to 7,000 visitors flooded the streets in 2018, and we expect that number to grow again this year.

This year’s theme is “All Together Now”. We are seeking unique and engaging installations, interactive art, film, sculpture, street theatre, music, or anything else that explore ideas revolving around the collective, what connects/divides, as well as the opportunities & challenges collectivity provokes. We seek projects that encourage audiences to explore, discover, debate, and participate in contemporary art and the public spaces that surround them. This is your chance to think outside the box, and let your imagination run wild. Any venue in the downtown core is possible, and we encourage local businesses, cultural and religious institutions to join in by opening their doors and offering free access to contemporary art. Artists will be paid fees for their participation.

Ironman 70.3 Muskoka

IRONMAN 70.3 MUSKOKA

PRESENTED BY: Subaru of Muskoka

Muskoka, Ontario, Canada

A mid-summer race loved for its stunning beauty and naturally tough course.

This race takes place in a region adjacent to the majestic Great Lakes—a pristine, forest getaway in Canada's cottage country.

Organizers are excited to host the 2019 Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 Muskoka at the gorgeous Canada Summit Centre in Historic Downtown Huntsville. The beautiful Canada Summit Centre was renovated and expanded for the 2010 G8 Summit. The Canada Summit Centre was formerly the host location for the Subaru 5150 Muskoka triathlon and Subaru Muskoka Chase Triathlon.

The course features a 1.2-mile, one-loop swim in the scenic Fairy Lake. The swim start is just 500m from the transition zone. The 56-mile out and back bike course will travel freshly paved roads through Baysville and beautiful countryside. The 13.1-mile run will take you through Historic Downtown Huntsville and finishing at the gorgeous Canada Summit Centre.

There's an amazing amount of recreation options in this recreational hub of Eastern Canada. Visit a museum, hike a pristine trail, star gaze, relax in front of bonfire, swim or fish in sparkling waters, sip local wine or beer on a dock, get up close and personal with wildlife, pamper yourself at a spa, or enjoy one of the many events and festivals that reflect Muskoka's charm. The region truly has something for everyone, both athletes and spectators alike.
